So, today was only day 2 of my Starkey Training but I feel like I've just taken in about a year's worth of college terminology. To update you on my crazy endeavors and a run down of my new schedule, I will emphasize the fact that my new "class" consists of 2 people. Myself and a gentleman by the name of Mr. Rush. We all go by last names in the mansion as it is Mrs. Starkey's wish whom is considered to be the "principal" aka employer of the house. The dynamics of a particularly small class is somewhat efficient at best and awkward at worse. Past classes have ranged from 6 to 14. I have the interesting journey of taking on this course with only one other individual.
Pros of the small class:
-Move forward quickly
-More one on one attention
-I'm the only one being placed and will, therefore, have the placement team working solely on me (Mr. Rush already is employed for the Head of West Point)
Cons of the small class:
-All the class meets together for meals- only us and the instructor (gets awkward and boring and its only day 2)
- Each week we rotate who is the Household Manager (HM) and who is the chef and who is the sous chef which means: we just flip back and forth for the next 8 weeks combining the chef and sous chef positions (aka- be up at the mansion at 6:30am every morning for the next 8 weeks)
My Long Days:
6:30- HM duties
7:15- Staff Meeting
7:30- Zone Cleaning
9:00- Class until noon
12:00- Prepare Lunch
12:30- Eat Lunch
1:00- Clean up
1:30- Class
5:00- Prepare dinner
5:30- Eat dinner
6:00- Clean up
6:30- HM duties
Its going to be a long 8 weeks. But, I'm learning a lot. We have started their systems software and learning how to really begin a new position and how to break down all the aspects of management. It's quite fascinating. We have had homework but not much and usually I'm able to do it on break so I have time in the evenings.
Thats my update for today. I'll keep you posted as things deem interesting:)
Hey girl! It sounds like you're having a fun/busy time at the Mansion so far :) It's fun reading about your fun advenutre! :)
