An eventful evening...

Last night we met Charlie's best friend Phillip and his fiance Rachel at Texas Roadhouse. Which, of course, becomes the social hour and reunion of all current employees who knew us once. It was fun though and we had a great dinner. Afterwards, we went to Rachel's apartment and played Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit-- where Phillip and I made fun of the other's extensive knowledge of the books and movies. It was a little ridiculous how much they knew.

Anyway, we retired back to Charlie's parents house only to receive a phone call from Charlie's brother Shane telling us that his is not feeling well and 911 has been called. Mind you, we are in the house at this point and see no parents. We then progressed through the house to find them on the back porch. Mike and Sonia had gone out for Mexican food at 6pm, went to dance class at 8pm and returned home at 9. Sonia went to take her bath and Mike sat out on the back porch with a very full-bodied cigar and a glass of LLano sweet red wine (quite good by the way). Mike started feeling nauseated, dizzy, and his skin became quite cold and clamy. He called Sonia in the other room (cell phones) and she became concerned. She called Shane and Tish and asked them to call 911 knowing Mike wouldn't want her to do so. Of course, they said they would come right over but didn't think it wise for them to call the paramedics since they didn't even know the house address. Sonia then called and the ambulance showed up shortly after we arrived. Charlie diagnosed nicotine poisoning which generally happens with overpowering cigars, inhaling it on an empty stomach. It had been 4 hours since he had dinner. But, since Mike is a heart patient, he agreed to go with the paramedics to the hospital to get checked out. The EKG, blood work, and other tests were run and they came back clear. We all sat in the lobby waiting until he was clear to come home. 1am and we finally got home and finally got to go to bed. Wow. Eventful evening.
