Oh Chicago...

Well, the job in Boston has been postponed until November and no other solid leads on the table. So, in two weeks, we are moving to Chicago, IL. Charlie is really excited to work out of the main office. Just in case we don't like the cold, we wanted to make sure that we got the coldest time of year to be there just to make sure. (completely sarcastic) On the bright side we found an apartment with a fireplace! yay! We're excited to have direction but now figuring out all the moving details is not so much fun. But a funny story just occured this afternoon.

I went with my mom to Sonic for Happy Hour and ordered a Diet Dr. Pepper with Vanilla. Does anyone see a problem with that? No. I've ordered that lots of times before and never had the response that the drive thru guy gave me. As soon as I finished my order he said, "You know thats not diet right?" My mom thought he said, "You know thats not good for you right." I sat there stunned in silence while my mom is just cracking up laughing. It had to be the funniest thing. I was thinking "you know you work at Sonic right? the land of not good for you food?" Haha. So funny.

An eventful evening...

Last night we met Charlie's best friend Phillip and his fiance Rachel at Texas Roadhouse. Which, of course, becomes the social hour and reunion of all current employees who knew us once. It was fun though and we had a great dinner. Afterwards, we went to Rachel's apartment and played Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit-- where Phillip and I made fun of the other's extensive knowledge of the books and movies. It was a little ridiculous how much they knew.

Anyway, we retired back to Charlie's parents house only to receive a phone call from Charlie's brother Shane telling us that his is not feeling well and 911 has been called. Mind you, we are in the house at this point and see no parents. We then progressed through the house to find them on the back porch. Mike and Sonia had gone out for Mexican food at 6pm, went to dance class at 8pm and returned home at 9. Sonia went to take her bath and Mike sat out on the back porch with a very full-bodied cigar and a glass of LLano sweet red wine (quite good by the way). Mike started feeling nauseated, dizzy, and his skin became quite cold and clamy. He called Sonia in the other room (cell phones) and she became concerned. She called Shane and Tish and asked them to call 911 knowing Mike wouldn't want her to do so. Of course, they said they would come right over but didn't think it wise for them to call the paramedics since they didn't even know the house address. Sonia then called and the ambulance showed up shortly after we arrived. Charlie diagnosed nicotine poisoning which generally happens with overpowering cigars, inhaling it on an empty stomach. It had been 4 hours since he had dinner. But, since Mike is a heart patient, he agreed to go with the paramedics to the hospital to get checked out. The EKG, blood work, and other tests were run and they came back clear. We all sat in the lobby waiting until he was clear to come home. 1am and we finally got home and finally got to go to bed. Wow. Eventful evening.

Feels like home to me...

Charlie and I used to frequently attend the Wednesday night practice dance while we were dating and last night we went with Charlie's parents. It felt so good to have a big floor and practice some new steps and exercise our old ones. Its wonderful to see his parents, Mike and Sonia, really getting into dancing and doing so well! It was also fun seeing some of Charlie's past dance students. It makes me totally ready for Dancing with the Stars next week! and to get back into really training hard.
Did you know that it is already past mid-September. Crazy. Where did the time go?
